While unemployment is difficult for everyone, displaced workers over 40 have added worries. Some people have been at their jobs for twenty years or more; some had thought they would never work at another company;  some have children in college.

Workers over 40 face age discrimination .Not that employers are prejudice against older people, but older workers have built up their base salary over the years. Some companies would like to replace older workers with less expensive younger workers.

Older workers may have more health-related issues and a good health plan is critical. Older workers may take more prescription drugs.
